About

The Day of Hungarian Culture is not only a commemoration of the birth of Ferenc Kölcsey’s Hymnus, but also an opportunity to rediscover and celebrate what unites us: language, art, tradition, and creative spirit. It is a celebration of our roots, our community, and culture as a living force that continues to enrich our lives.

Miercurea Ciuc/Csíkszereda marks this occasion with three special events:

  • TOLDI – Dance performance by the Hargita Székely Folk Dance Theatre
     January 22, 2026, 7:00 PM – Csíki Cinema
    A folk dance adaptation of János Arany’s epic Toldi, bringing the timeless values of courage, perseverance, and humanity to life through music and movement.

  • IN HARMONY – Festive concert
     January 23, 2026, 7:00 PM – House of Arts
    A celebratory concert featuring alumni and the philharmonic orchestra of the Nagy István High School of Arts, conducted by Ernő Péter.

  • STAY HUMAN – The Ákos Story. So Far.
     January 24, 2026, 8:00 PM – Csíki Cinema
    A musical portrait film about singer-songwriter Ákos, offering an intimate look into his career, personal journey, and enduring artistic legacy.
