About

This Advent, we bring the light closer once again, so the flame of anticipation will shine in the neighbourhoods too.
This year, at five locations – in David Ferenc Square in the Bethlen district, in Cserehát, at the House of the Elderly in Szombatfalva, in Kadicsfalva, and in the city centre at Márton Áron Square – we will light the flame of anticipation together. During these festive moments we will be joined by choirs, churches and smaller communities from Székelyudvarhely, who will help bring the light of the Advent candles even closer to the people of the city through their cultural programmes.
On the first Sunday of Advent, let us light the flame of faith together!
On Sunday, 30 November at 17:00, in the park of the Bethlen district, we will not only light candles but also hearts. Advent is about waiting, light and togetherness – and we now begin this journey together, following the path of a gradually growing light.
For spiritual enrichment, we will hear reflections from Katalin Újvárosi, minister of the 2nd Unitarian Parish of Székelyudvarhely, and Father Huba Tamás, Roman Catholic priest of the Little Saint Teresa Parish in the Bethlen district.
The first candle, the flame of faith, will be lit by a special couple: Imre and Ilonka Kovács, who said “yes” to each other sixty years ago. Sixty years of love – what a beautiful message for all of us on the Sunday of faith!
The heartfelt moments will be embraced by music: the Kendermorzsa choir of the Bethlen Gábor Primary School, led by Ibolya Bálint, and the children’s choir of the Móra Ferenc Primary School, under the direction of choirmaster István Székely, will fill the park with song.
The Haáz Rezső Museum also invites the townspeople to a special Advent guided tour on Saturday and Sunday at the Faith, Hope, Cartoon exhibition.
Visit the Haberstumpf Villa at 16:00 on Saturday and 17:00 on Sunday for the guided tour.
Advent begins in our hearts. Come, pause with us, and let us light the flame that leads to the peace and joy of Christmas!
